First week of scrapping.. How do you think I did??

Ok.. So Ive been scrapping for the last 7 days.. Ive made a total of $410 + 2 items I will sell on ebay ( should get close to $40 for that stuff . with a total of about 20 hours worth of work including driving around, loading, trips to the scrap yard etc.

I think thats pretty good considering the time invested for my first week.... I could have done better if I had a trailer or a pickup truck.. alot of heavy big stuff that I just can not transport

Real good. That's how it starts. Next comes the pickup; then the trailer. Decide carefully what to buy. If you think you might want to buy cars or heavy equipment, you'll want at least a 3/4 ton truck and a dual axle trailer with an electric winch. Even if you decide not to buy cars, the payload and winch will pay for themselves.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

whats nice is I drive a small SUV ( a chevy HHR ) my drivearound mileage is about 19-22 MPG and Its all highway going to the scrap yard which I get 29-30 MPG so I do very well in gas thankfully

Unfortunately I bought a Hacksaw today and I was sawing in the dark and the blade broke and the front end that the blade connects to fell out and I couldnt find it... gonna have to go back tomorrow and find it GRRR..

Do you have a magnet yet? I've got a magnet on a rope for picking stuff off the floor.

Could have waved it around in the general vicinity to see if it'd pick it up.

I figure If i can make minimum wage tax free im doing alright and anything more is great or else i would be flipping burgers, So What I did and recomend you do is everyweek charting hours spent and overhead, Everyweek I typically go through a cutting disc for my grinder a metal cutting sawzall blade and a pack of utility knife blades plus gas, so subtract that from your profits, and divide it with your hours and that will help you figure out if your doing alright
