Computer boards are packed up and ready to be picked up.

I got a box together of 27 pounds of motherboards, video cards, sound cards, power supply circuitry, printer boards, and a few cell phones. Trying out cashforelectronicscrapusa.com for this shipment. Had to have a minimum of 25 pounds to get the free shipping, but it sounds like you can just take 1 motherboard or something and pay shipping yourself (not sure how that would work out being just 1 board). Our average per motherboard was 2 pounds.

Brother in law is gonna drop it off at the fedex pickup place here tomorrow and should here from them about 10 days after they receive it that I have a check in the mail.

As soon as I get the check, I will let you guys know what I got total and see if it was worth it.

For me, it will be worth it because I am sure I will get more than 6 cents per pound like the yard wanted to pay. Plus I already made about $4 total on the metal and wire off each computer I broke down.

I am awaiting email from them for some questions I sent to them, hoping that they will answer and let me know. If they say what I want them to say, I have another 30 pounds of circuit boards out of DVD/VHS/CD players as well as other electronic gadgets to ship out.

the only thing i'm worried about is that it is almost the same idea as the "cash for gold scheme" you send them your stuff they "review it" and send you a check but how do you know you won;t get ripped off???. is there some national price for motherboards?, it would be nice if they can give you somewhat of an idea on price range, i have about 40 lbs already motherboards, video cards, sound cards, power supply circuitry, printer boards, and i don't know if i want to risk it with the company the OP gave..... i saw a bunch of ebay listings and they were going for a high price 40 lbs for 175$....http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT , i guess only have to wait for OP to get his check and inform all of us, if that don't fly im going the ebay route. Good Luck tjlock !

Yes, the "How do you know if you are getting ripped off" question popped in my head as well. If I get a decent amount, I will be happy, even if I get a bad amount, it is still money... But I would definitely like to get more buck for the bang. Figured I would try this out, if it doesn't pan out, I will contact the other site and get details with the boards they buy. If nothing else, I will start the Ebay process.

Is it just 25 lbs of motherboards you have to have for free shipping or can it be 25 lbs of anything they buy?

25 #'s of anything they buy.

I got a reply back from them about my questions... they really didn't answer anything but told me that they don't want printer boards, power supply boards, or electronic gadget boards.

Nope, that I have to wait on. I am hoping I get some sort of invoice for what metals they pulled out and what metals I get paid for with the check. I know after my last email, some boards were in there that they were not interested in, so that will hurt a bit.

Well now, this turned out to be a total waste of time and patience. Granted I do know after talking to the rep that some boards they did not want, but the pay out is just flat out a slap in the face and a kick in the sack. Granted, I also said that any money was better than no money, they might as well of kept the check.

Here is what I know we had that they bought.
    11 # mother boards
4 # daughter boards (video card, sound card, ethernet cards)
    1 # memory
    2 # old cell phones

    $3.75

Guess I will go to Ebay for this stuff, or just sell to the scrap yard. I don't even think I will try the other place.

I don't want you to get offended by my posting this, tjlock, but I decided to quote the prices you would have gotten had you decided to sell on Ebay. (this is just an estimate based on what is selling on their now. it may not be as much because there is more volume up for sale there.)

    • 11 # mother boards & 4 # daughter boards @ $3.45/lbs = $50
    • 1 # memory @ $10/lbs = $10
    • 2 # old cell phones @ $0.01/lbs = $.02

Total (after shipping costs have been deducted) = $60

For my data I used these two listings:
    SCRAP RAM
    SCRAP MOTHERBOARDS AND PCIs

Again, I think nobody hear is going to deal with those guys now that you posted this... So, I'll say thank you from everybody! I've never sold anything to those types of websites, and now I know not to! At least you know that those types of buyers are not going to give good rates...

That being said, what were their official "rates"? Did they tell you anything about their rates in their correspondence to you? I have a very sneaking suspicion that they will be selling their stock pile on Ebay.

Again, Thank you very much for doing this research, and I'm sorry it didn't pay off!

I didn't get anything from them except for the check. Only thing on it next to the price is "eScrap Value". No indication of any amounts of gold, silver, platinum, or anything. After I got the check I was searching Ebay, just to see. I noticed that since the last time I check Ebay, The prices were up a bit. Most likely, my computer scrap will go to Ebay, at least the ones that sell.

At least hopefully this will discourage all those that use these forums from using these sites. They never have answered the questions that I sent off in the email. Wish I would of thought to contact them a whole lot sooner, then I would have known that they have poor follow up service.
