I think it all boils down to this:

    Are you happy

    Yes = Success

No = You might need to change something

This isn't about keeping score by how much money you make, or how clean you are when you get home, it's about living a full happy life. If you are, then you are a success.

And don't let anyone tell you just because they have classified you at some idiotic description of some imaginary level that you are not going to make it. Stating that the only way you can is if you are at some invented level 3-4 with a substantial investment is the craziest thing I have seen anyone post about how to be a success on this site yet.

When I owned a grocery store we had a saying. "Success comes in cans, not can-nots"

WOW!!!! The ""Corporate Website"" is a webs.com blog rife with misspellings, horrid grammar, and poorly laid out web pages.

I take it this is your way of telling us that you don't actually own a franchise? That you are in fact not selling a franchise opportunity because you are not licensed to franchise your business in any state in the United States?

Wow. Tcgs, you might have started this thread with good intentions, but you're finishing strong with a really bad attitude and you've lost my respect completely. It might benefit you to learn how to express yourself better and elaborate on your ideas if you really want to be understood and a benefit to this forum. If you really just want to antagonize and piss on everyone here, as pretty much all of your posts would suggest, I'd appreciate it if you posted elsewhere. Thanks!

Tcgs, when you started claiming you owned a franchise, you turned this thread in part, a thread that had to do with your franchise.

Which by the way, searching the franchise database, there is no registered franchise for recycling by the name of "Green Truck" in either Az or Co.

I personally believe you just simply overstated what you are doing, realized you made a mistake, your pride and ego prevented you from admitting it, so you defended yourself and made it worse and then you became more and more upset as the question about your owning a real franchise, and your integrity, became more what this thread was about than the previous mistake you made in posting your little scale and where people fit into it.

We could all forgive you, and would think far more of you, if you just simply admitted what you did, apologized. Then we can all get back to what's really important and stop all this other garbage that serves no positive purpose.

I personally don't care how much you do or do not make. Success should not be measured so far as I am concerned, by how much you do or do not make. The only thing we can really judge each other by on this forum is by what we say, what we express, how we choose to conduct ourselves. Race, religion, where we live, how much we make, none of these things matter, only what we say and how we conduct ourselves,. It might serve you well to remember this fact when choosing in continuing to support your statements of unfounded half truths and misleading remarks.

And just a suggestion, but you may want to change your slogan to: "Changing the way you THINK ABOUT recycling". Just a bit a free advice, it makes you sound more intelligent and suggesting that if people were using their mind, they would realize how smart it is to recycle with you. Just a bit of free advice. See, I'm willing to still help you, now can you play nicely?

Warning* before you start a scrap metal business consider this

I thought scrappers were scrappers. whether u walk around with a cart picking up cans or you haul cars. we are all doing the same thing. until I read all of this ridiculousness I never thought there was a classification. I get my money from other peoples trash. you get your money from other peoples trash. sounds the same to me.

well, I read on here,, that people are making big bucks.. the real quesiton... are You reporting it.. don't get caught.... It will cost you more then you make...

so if You're in the business, be sure to keep a good record of all of your transaction.. and all of your paid out and tools for write off... so when it comes time... you're prepared..

just because its a hobby,,, its still consider income and the goverment wants a share of it.

So put away about 10 percent of each check... and save it for taxes...

I put away 15 because of the volume I do..

and I keep all gas, tools, rents, elec, gas for heat, water, internet, phone, phone books ads, flyers, business cards, and the list goes on.. into my expense ledger at the end of year, Its there, all tally up...

Running a scrap business, is not a easy task it requires energy, will power, and elbow grease and ORGANIZATION SKILLS>

so be sure to keep that in mind also.

My CPA says at least %16. Tax rate up until a certain point for a sole owner LLC. is 15.3%.

Dont quote me on that, I am not a tax professional.

I keep 33% of my year-to-date net on hand liquid, split 20% in paypal account, 30% in biz bank account, and 50% in my fire box in folding cash. That way when April rolls around, I've got 1/3 of 15 months worth of business, which is all the cash I need to pay Uncle Sam as painlessly as that can possibly be accomplished, plus I keep a nice supply of on hand $$$ so I don't miss any opportunities.

Wow.... some intelligent discourse in this thread. HELLZYEAH!!!!!!!

I think the reason many of us turn to the forum is to avoid being placed in a societal hierarchy. I can't speak for all of us, but the forum is a wonderful community to learn, laugh and share. The common denominator and the one thing we share is our admiration/love for the recycling business. The forum works because of this... once you start to classify (in the spirit of DC...sequester) the group you begin to divide the community... hence the (to date) 8 pages of posts and hundreds of views in about 24 hours.

Our energy shouldn't be wasted to regress the forum, but to continue the development of the forum/community for the betterment of our collective and individual lives, families and respective communities.

Thank you for looking out, it's appreciated.

I ended up knowing who he is, he's good people, he just doesn't want to be involved with some of the things that happen on this forum and I can't blame him for that.

Just wanted to clear that up, and thank you for looking out.
