    For those of you that find coins - whatever you do - DON'T TRY TO CLEAN THEM. Ever. In any way. Not even plain water. Nothing.

    If they have any collector value at all, you will destroy that value by trying to clean it. Collectors want the coins dirty and tarnished. They will buy a dirty, tarnished beat-up looking coin over a shiny cleaned one every time.
