    They may have exclusive contracts with these companies- you might ask about that. It might be some kind of thing where the recycling companies take the monitors,printers and other junk so they can get the computers. The bigger recycling companies may have zero landfill type certifications as well and some corporate office may have made the decision about what to do the e-waste.

    Haven't gotten a lot of ewaste but most of what I have received I've bought from small, independent repair shops. I'm careful to tell them that I only want the junk they are throwing away as many of them reuse anything workable. I give them a price list and I visit them regularly. If I can find any hobbyists, I will try to buy from them as well.
