    big pickup

Today, I picked up about 150 towers and about 100 crt monitors along with boxes and boxes of cords, keyboards, mice, oem install disks, etc... I picked it up in a dual axle 22' enclosed trailer with a ram 2500. After I for it all loaded (watching the tires to make sure it wasn't overloaded) when one of the thus helping load pointed out it was a little front-heavy. The hitch and sway bars were about an inch from the ground... I spent the next half hour redistributing the weight... They have about another 30 monitors and a stack of laptops I need to go back for.
On another note, I found a place in Vancouver, WA that takes monitors or tubes at $.16/lb. At that price, I may be able to break the monitors down. They are all 15 or 17" monitors, so I figure the tube should weigh about 20lbs?
Oh yeah, the best part of the pickup is that its all FREE! I'll take pictures tonight when I start tearing into them.

    Faulguy,

Are you sure that they are paying .16/lb. I know that sometimes things get confusing on price sheets and .16/lb should really be (.16/lb) meaning a charge.

And I thought I'd hit the jackpot when I found out Goodwill would take them for nothing. The landfill was going to charge me $5 apiece. Actually, I can't imagine any place PAYING for monitors. "Too good to be true". Those 100 CRTs would bring in about $300.

When is the last time you heard that. I had been in contact with them 1 month ago and they would not buy them from me. We were going to be getting paid .03/lb for whole tv's and monitors. After two months of waiting to hear where to send them they finally informed me that they would not pay .03/lb for monitors unless we sent in everything else.

    Here is their website

And here is a map of their locations. http://universalrecyclers.com/Locati...ctionSite.aspx

Wish they had one near me. I think it is only a matter of time before there are more centers that can recycle this material.

sorry for the confusion. Since nobody that I have found (and I have called a LOT of places) I didn't think to specify it was a charge.

I didn't get a chance to take pictures before it got dark last night. I broke down 42 computers last night and I counted 93 more. Also in there was some misc software including dell oem xp pro cds and some older osx install cds, Cisco router, brand new Cisco parts, a laserdisk player with disks, boxes and boxes of cables, etc...
