If the sellers are squirrelly get possession of it ASAP. Cherry picking up front is great but large lots with an agreed upon price tends to shrink if not moved quickly. Locks help honest people from becoming thieves, fast possession helps keep honest sellers from becoming thieves.

Agreed. Set price and move the product. At least take pictures of what was agreed on. I learned that lesson early when I bought a pile of car parts. Made a down payment and took a two weeks getting everything moved out. Half way into it, went to pay the rest. Owner claimed we'd agreed on more although he didn't specify what amount. Then piles started shrinking. Fortunately, I'd taken pictures of what I'd bought. Probably the only really bad experience I've had over the years.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

It is simply a per lb deal. He said a could take what i want and leave what i dont. It doesnt matter to him as im paying him what he would get from his buyer.

Sounds like a really good deal that way, I don't see a downside to it.
