My system for monitor/TV disposal is really starting to pay off. I charge $10 bucks for 32 inches or less unless they are donating computers (which I wave the fee). It's a good selling point and makes the consumer feel as though they are getting a great more for their computers than they were quoted. I take them home, open them, strip out the $5 or so worth of good stuff, seal it back up and drop it off at Best Buy. I've done about 15 monitors in the past 2 weeks like this.

New York State has enacted legislation requiring free recycling for CRTs as well as most
e-waste. I wouldn't doubt that other cities and/or states may do the same or something similar. You can check this web site to see if there is such a program near you:
