My City has a "Green" can for recyclables. They take #1-7 plastics. Made my day to learn this. I now have two of them to fill and they are emptied bi-weekly. Check with some local disposal companies and see if any of them offer a similar service.
I too have wondered what to do with laptop screens. I may regret this but I will share anyway.
If the screen is in good condition (and even if it’s not) it or the parts can be re-used. It’s best to handle them with care and not scratch them or remove "the good" stuff. A new screen from the factory can cost $60 + install. One from me is free. You just have to find a market for them. Currently I take mine to a new and local computer/laptop repair shop that specializes in screen repairs and I "give" them the screens. It’s my objective to gain them as an e-waste client in the process. It’s a new store so will see how it goes. Some shops may not even want to deal with you...
I also take the cartridges and give them to office max (I believe... I have a family member do it) and I think they give $3 each and will take upwards of $30 a month worth.
