    Laptop CD Drives

I never thought about these things having circuit boards until I saw a post about them a few weeks ago. I don't get a lot of laptops and their CD drives have been going in the shred pile.

I had 7 and decided to take them apart and found that each one had 2 boards. The 7 on the left have the SATA connector that connects to the mother board and if you dig a little deeper you'll find another board, shown on the right. Laptop memory at the bottom for size.

I know some of you are rolling your eyes and saying yeah, yeah, basic ewaste knowledge, but this was new info to me and thought I would share.

I guess I should read the archives more.
