Also, when I say things like "you don't know enough about chemistry to know you shouldn't have asked the question" I am referring to the fact that the OP did not understand that copper, nor gold, dissolve in HCl alone, which is what he was originally suggesting. Every chemistry student learns the basics, like the reactivity series for example, and understanding that HCl alone does not dissolve copper unless hot, or gold unless oxygen is present is basic chemistry. When he repeated it again, I re-stated what I said.
When it comes to saving someone from making a serious mistake I take things very seriously, when someone says something so basic that it's obvious they don't have even the slightest clue about even the most basic chemistry, I take action via words to make sure they keep themselves safe. But being insulting I was not.
What I do not do is read threads, and decide that I don't like the way someone was talking with someone else, and then post something coy about a that person in an insulting way. You understand the difference I hope, I was very blunt, very sharp with my words, brutally honest you might say, and what did the guy say he was going to do? Check out GRF. That was the intended end result and I'm really glad he is now seeking help where he should be. But I did that specifically because I knew this thread was never going to be able to give him the information, nor the safety information, he needed to do things correctly. YOU on the other hand, said some pretty nasty things about things you admittedly know nothing about. I'll apologize before hand for stating the obvious, but you sir do not even know enough about chemistry to understand what it was I was trying to point out, and had no business attempting to translate what I stated as something that should be taken offensively, because honestly, that is not the way it was intended, which is something I stated over and over again.
Sorry, but it sounds like you are the one picking on people to me. I call it like I see it. In none of my posts will you see me picking on people for the way they talk, for being verbose, for being concerned and expressing it in a non nonsense way that hopefully makes the person stop and take measure of what exactly it is they are proposing. I feel bad that you took such great offense at something that was never directed towards you, but I refuse to hold grown adults hands and play footsie with them, specially when their safety is concerned.
Again, I hope you don't take offense, what I say is not intended that way, but if you do choose to take offense it's on you brother, I am not saying anything offensive, but speaking the hard truth. My integrity means something to me, so I would appreciate it if you did not attempt to make it seem like I am trying to be disrespectful towards other members. Pointing out someone does not know something is not being disrespectful!
