Not all crts are created equal, What What What?

Now i usually don't mess with crt's but when someone has a big load for me, and lots of good stuff, i say sure i can take that. so i did notice that this one was bigger then normal, more square then normal. i got it a few weeks go by and i finally got to it yesterday. when i pulled the plastic shell of i was like WTF. All the metal casing, and brackets were alum, and it has a huge chunk of alum for the heat sink. but wait it gets better!! There was so much copper wire, i couldn't believe it. Usually there's one or two thick cables that you can strip, this baby had 4 meaty ones and 4 smaller ones. I ended up with 5 lb's of BB copper!!! wow i wish all crt's were build this way!

I've got some old SGI (Silicon Graphics) CRT monitors that I've had for years. SGI was a pioneer in the higher levels of computer and software design. These don't work with regular IBM compatable computers, but only with SGI MIPS computers, they won't even connect. They were used in high end graphic applications, I used to get a lot of those SGI computers from NASA, but one monitor came from USGS and the other from a very prestigious university brain center, used in a unit that scanned the brain(i even got tapes with the images on it, and it even has a remote control ; ) Extremely high dollar units. They're Big, And Heavy! Not ready to scrap them yet, but have wondered when(and IF) I do, what will be in there.
