    Motor should have cu windings but scrape the surface to see if it is cu coated al. If it is al then its not worth breaking down the motor to get the winding, can be sold as cbm(copper bearing material).

    To strip or not to strip, that is a very well chewed question. The answer remains the same its up to you. Try it, then you will know the answer for that particular wire for you. Warning stripping stranded wire in a carpeted house can hurt for a long time into the future, don't do it. 73, Mike.(wow lots of free and easy info, I must be getting old)
