    cell phone noob question ?

ok every one since Im a complete equil rights/oppertunity kind of guy, heres your chance, Im getting ready to ask a complete noob question.

cell phones: got a few lbs of old motorola and nokia cell phones in my last pick up. All have nc/ni batteries along with some docking stations.

how do I sell this ?

seperate the batteries from the phones and sell seperately?

sell the batteries and break every thing else down?

break down the docking stations and throw the pins in my pin pot ?

who buys this stuff and how much ?

Ok every one heres your chance to get even, fire away.

I would look at Relectrocycle on the buyers page. They pay more than scrap on some models then scrap price on the rest. One simple transaction with postage covered.

Hi olddud glade to see you up and about. Try looking into Arcoa, I think they are in the buyer section, cell phone batteries $1.65 per lbs.The boards are at least midgrade and maybe highgrade. I drove 75 miles to releectrocycle with a truck load of boards and computor parts and was not happy with the amount of money they paid me. Less than $150.00. I think Arcoa has much better prices but I have not sold anything to them yet. Log onto thiere web site and sign up to recieve thiere price list once a week, it's free!!!

Hi Olddude, I think this is the thread you are looking for http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/showt...ighlight=phone Whilst his prices on a lot of ewaste isn't that high he has also explained the reason why. His reasoning is that other ewaste is secondary to his main business which is in recycling old phones. For this reason he knows he is not competitive with others here in that regard. In regards to mobile phones however, he seems pretty good and I haven't come across anyone paying more here yet.

As to whether you should break them down, do as always have, break one down and do a before and after weight and see if it is worth your time. I would guess it won't be though.

Im thinking time to break down cellphone is 1.3 seconds. The time it take to chuck it against the wall and watch it EXPLODE. Then just pic up the board . I think Relectrocycle is best place to send any cellphone regardless of scrap prices because if they are resellable he will give you better than scrap price. Kinda like what Im doing for computer parts.
