paint and anodized aluminum has no extra "weight" and pretty much goes away when it gets melted. the carper or other items have to be removed (either by
magnet if ferrous) or separated using eddy current system or similar...and that material is GENERALLY lower priced metals or materials. The downgrade helps pay for this extra step and helps account for the extra "weight" of the lower priced materials. Not sure how the glue would downgrade it unless they HAVE to send it to the
foundry as contaminated and not "pure" aluminum.
