Let me take a crack at my opinion on cutting some of the gold fingers off of motherboards. I havnt had to deal with this yet as the scrap side of buying material from forum buyers hasnt taken off yet. Anyway if you look at this board you will notice it has gold fingers. What you might not notice is that it doesnt have the IDE pinned connectors on it. I know this picture is of a newer board and it does have the sata connectors. BUt it was one of the first ones I came to on a search for a picture. What you will also notice is this board does not have pci slots with the gold conectors in them as well. So in my opinion if you cut the gold finger off of this board you would devalue it.
