    If the volume is scratchy spray some CRC (WD40) into the volume potentiometer (remove the knob, spray down the shaft in the gap & keep playing with the volume control).

    i cant find any WD40 right now, but ill ask Mum about it, and no one ever replied to my TV set thread

    I have been repairing business phones for over 15 years. for scratchy volume we use Deoxit. It works and lasts for years. A bit pricy but this stuff has made us a lot of money not having to replace scratchy potentiometers.
    Google "Deoxit" for more info.
