Our yard is a small, family run deal and normally the wife of the owner is the one in the office. Well she is off for some medical issues so they just grabbed a guy from the yard and put him in there. This, sadly, was a mistake.

We did our weights before we went to the yard and we figured that we should have around $650 in scrap for the day. So we got everything taken care of and got our slip. We were just about 1/4 pound off total thanks to a few things that were added at the last minute.

Well the guy does all of his figuring and all that and then hands me the check. I nearly fainted when it said $290.52 !!!!!

I said wait a minute and told him that something was not right. He then proceeded to tell me that he used a calculator and everything was correct.

I quickly scanned the figures and found his mistake. Our total on copper should have been $366.00 but he put it in as $3.66 instead. I pointed it out to him and he just gave a heavy sigh, snatched the paper and check from me and went back to it, all the while giving me the stink eye.

The new check read $652.60...Much better

I am very glad that I was paying attention because I would have been mighty pissed had I already left and gotten all the way to the bank.
Sounds like a pretty good haul to me. Congrats on it, and realizing the mistake.

I always have a saying "Dont mess with my family, money, or way of living, and we will be straight!"

I love doing things at my scrap yard, because they always know what they are doing. The people they have, have been working there forever, and always nice.
