    You might take the 1,500 and use it to buy fresh material for the deck. The framing should be pressure treated. Make sure to space the sill plate for the deck .... where the deck attaches to the house .... a few inches away from the house. Anything else will rot out the sill of the house in a few years.



    I know of a few places where decks were built of framing lumber. They lasted a few years and then bad things started happening. Decks collapse ... people get hurt ... lawsuits follow. Framing lumber doesn't weather very well. It rots out in no time.
