Here in Maine ... beer bottles & cans are five cents. Soda bottles and cans are five cents. Water bottles from 500ml as large as 2.5 gallon are five cents. Juice containers are five cents. No deposit on milk. Liquor & wine bottles are fifteen cents. Latest addition to the mix are " nips". They are tiny liquor bottles and are five cents

We have one Tomra machine that does plastic and aluminum cans.

The other Tomra machine does glass.

I dunno ... i've got mixed feelings about our bottle deposit system. It's plain enough when you pay the bottle deposit at the checkout. The thing is that the manufacturer builds in extra costs that you don't see. That way whoever redeems the bottles gets a cut ... and the ones who actually do the recycling get a cut too. The system isn't transparent.
