Any 1/2 ton with a V8 should be ble to pull 2900 lbs + trailer weight. If I were you, I’d look for a bit newer 1/2 ton. A 3/4 ton with a 454 is going to be a gas hog. As mentioned make sure your brakes are up to the task.
