Just to clarify I am paid by the ton at 2,000 pds. Others in the U.S. are paid by the metric or
gross ton. Our prices differ considerably in the U.S. If you live close to the coasts, Gulf of Mexico, or the Great Lakes you will average $ 20-$30 a ton more. I am not an expert on the non ferrous, but will speak to steel.
In the middle of the U.S. where I am at the prices are the lowest in the country because of shipping costs. With that being said, the general public gets $95 for unprepared, $120 for prepared regardless of #1 or #2. With a business account and negotiation I get a lot more. Hope this helps.
