For the value of the time to rebuild one, you could purchase one with a full warranty and have enough money to probably buy another. I'd rather take my chances with one of those than something I rebuilt.

I've owned two trucks with the GM 4 speed automatic. They're good transmissions for sure, but I still prefer a good manual....

There is a certain amount of satisfaction knowing the engine or transmission you overhauled serves you for years with out any problems, plus the money you save can go into performance parts.

I had a similar truck with the 350 coupled to a TH400, rebuilt the engine 0.30 over with 12.5 compression pistons and a mild cam to run on propane.
