If the truck was automatic it more than likely came with the turbo 400, the second best transmission GM ever built with Allison winning first place.
The turbo 400 is an easy transmission to rebuild, the full kit sells on
ebay for $120.95, with 53 kits sold - goes to show this transmission is still in popular demand.
Full instrumentation cluster with ammeter, temperature and oil pressure gauges along with a tachometer, anti sway bars and perhaps a 12 bolt posi all desirable items from this era.
