If it wasn't for people willing to sit a few hours and get a little coin for plasma, hospitals wouldn't have the albumin. I thought about doing plasma a few times but chickened out because I'd probably come down with a massive caffeine headache and the idea of a needle in the arm for several hours bugged me (I give whole blood but that's pretty quick). So plasma donators rock even if they're getting some coin to do it!
I haven't found it to be too terrible. I am usually done within 45 minutes. What I am not a fan of is when the vein rolls and they try to chase it with the needle instead of removing and starting over, or trying other arm. Had that happen a few times. Eat a high protein meal a few hours before and stay hydrated and you should be fine.
