    100 CRTs???

Guy answered one of my ads and wants me to pickup 100 CRTs. I don't charge for them now and our dump doesn't either in my area. Would you guys take them? I don't particularly like breaking them down honestly. Lots of work for a little bit of low grade board and yoke copper.

If you can get rid of them then figure time and effort for the pick up and charge for time and equipement use. You would be solving a problem for him and that has value. Mike

get a free weekend and get to work on them as long as you don't have to pay any disposal fees I would do it.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I'm in Wyoming, but I looked into doing business in Montana.

    Here's what I know:

According to the MCA (Montana Code Anointed), E-Waste recycling facilities must register with the state. Most people can probably go "under the radar", but having CRTs will be like having a target on your back.

According to EPA guidelines, large quantities of CRTs puts a larger target on your back. I'm not too versed in the federal EPA laws, but I know enough that I don't want any part of it!

I don't know where you're at. Montana is a large state. I know the Billings area the best. In Billings, there are three places that take CRTs (That I know of- there may be more). Two charge a lot (One charges $0.50 per pound), and I have my doubts on the other one.

So, you're left with what could become hazardous waste easily, will have targets on your back, and will be out a lot of money if the local dump laws change.

That aside, I still don't put CRTs in the dump. It doesn't seem responsible by my standards.

    Just my $0.02

Personally I try to stay away from CRT's but sometimes I might get a few in a load of PC's. If you do decide to take them make sure the insides haven't already been removed.

Doesn't matter to me, my contract with NuLife is for the tubes. If the boards are in there that'll be a bonus.

I think I'm going to call him back and pass. It's too much trouble IMO for the return.
