    Scrap Addiction

    http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/day-l...tml#post225893

Out of the situation above I discovered I have an addiction . The item I lost out on I figure was worth $60 or above
not really a big deal in the scrap finding realm .Yet I was feeling - depressed - feeling low - sad - I just figured - - what ever --
next day I was on my rout and found 2 metal cook trays and a heavy chain from a motorcycle . As fast as I saw the items
a feeling of pleasure came over me - My well being was elevated in two blinks of an eye .

Rationally I do the math -
2 metal cook trays and a heavy chain from a motorcycle value is at best $1
    Lamp architecture $60 or above

It became clear - I have Scrap Addiction , as I sit here typing - I have a Scrap Addiction .
I clearly know how to generate money from scrap . but I wonder if the emotional addiction
that drives me is holding me back . Wile It can be looked at with a bit of humor, the big picture
is if a scrap find of a dollar brings me a well being feeling then I need retrain myself to differentiate from
the Quest of pleasure of the hunt & the real money that scrap delivers as a business owner .

Don't worry too much, you already have a support group of completely understanding individuals right here at SMF! I'm in the same boat, I get a "high" from hunting for, finding, and even just talking about a nice score. Definately the healthiest addiction I've ever had!

    Scrap addiction.....
When you go to put some rubbish into a public rubbish bin,
and as you do you see a empty Aluminium can,
    And hesitate....

Wife wouldn't let me go out today because I had to cook a turkey for some holiday or something? I'm getting a little shakey here.

Good news I have just opened a clinic to cure your addiction problems (fine print cost 10K). Most insurance accepted but no Obama care please.

I'm not just the owner I'm also a patient.

Yeah but the beauty of scrap addiction is it enhances your life, not destroys it.so the more you feed it the better off you are.

Yep, if I ever feel a pang of guilt (why I don't know) over picking up a can or slowing down or reversing to get a second look at something, I just remind myself that it's just like picking up a penny, nickel, dime. Someone else doesn't want their money anymore? I'll take it!

Do you ever get stares from people when you bend down and pick up low value coins?? But I bet they'ed be beating cheeks trying to get ahead of you if there was an actual bill, especially higher than a 1 laying on the floor. So, its it just a matter what individual people think is revelent, not???

"Only scoff at me if you refuse to bend down and pick up a $20"!!

I find my eyes glued to the curb and nearby dumpsters in hopes of a score. I also cringe at the sight of metals I can't wrap my dirty mitts around and call mine!

My birthday and Christmas presents come with instructions: DON'T SCRAP THIS!
So yeah, they may be staging an intervention soon.

I can't drive down a street without looking down alleys that I am driving by. When I am out I always find a new way home thru a few alleys. I pick up pennies so why not an alum can almost worth $.03 by me...

This is my first post with a 2013 acer laptop that my scrapping addiction left me with. One of many perfectly usable items that have been dumped in my lap (hehehe) by the horrible monkey on my back.
