A "Boo-ya!" weekend. I pull ip to a house that CL listed but had no sign (I almost passed it by). I hop out of the truck and see a neon light. I just sold one, what are the chances? I walk up and see a tag on it for $5, and I ask if it works. She says "yes" and says she will plug it in. I tell her she has an honest face and I hand her the $5. Get it home and plug it in....

I have it listed on CL for $250. I am going to like it hanging in my shop.

So I guess the $250 price tag will ensure it stays at your place for a long time???? No matter it looks like a steller find to me.

Nice sign, I use to collect beer signs. I once seen a sign go for $1500. It was a Budweiser's sign with the big horses pulling a beer wagon. I started that bid at $50 and at $150 I stopped. I was only 16 at the time. That was a long time ago lol

I don't mind having it hanging in the shop. It is worth the wait for $250. The thing is, you won't find another. If you want it, I got it. I liked the Peroni sign and I waited for that to sell, and it did.

Hey tOOnces, I’m a 9/25/16 post, you said you loved getting dog cages. Why? I recently picked up seven of them sitting on a curb, and they are stacked beside my house. What do you do with yours?

Depending on the size -- those cages can sell for $25 - $100 pretty easy. People use them in my area for chickens, rabbits, etc. More than just for your cat / dog.

I used to sell them as well. I recommend you give them a good wash and I include a good application of bleach and dry in the sun. This will cut down on the spread of disease. 73, Mike

I'm sorry I did not see your post sooner.

I sell the cages on CL. I will not pay more than $10 for one I find (I got one yesterday for $5), and I advertise them on Craigslist for $30-$80, and they will sell fairly quickly. I also picked up a set of Panasonic cordless phones to have a phone in the shop. Just for the record, I have found Panasonic to be the best cordless phones, hands down. My luck with phones bought at yard sales has thus far been fruitless, but these have never been used, so wish me luck.

The shop I put in to work from was busted for not having been permitted. I did not think it needed to be permitted because it was not on a slab (just blocks), and the electrical connection was a plug in extension cord. I had to make sure the electric was up to code (it failed the initial inspection for a couple of minor reasons that really was important to correct... I should have GFI protected the circuits, I needed to label the box, and I needed a backfeed circuit breaker lock on the breaker I use =d to backfeed the box. I also hade to finish drywalling the shop to cover the Romex)) I passed the second inspection and I passed the final building inspection, so I am off to the races.

I picked up a set of 1/4" router ogee bits new for $1. I also had an idea to protect my back porch in the case of a hurricane. I was looking for something relatively inexpensive, resistant to debris, easily stackable and storeable, and easy to put up. This is what I came up with... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Gibralta...3325/202322807 I was thinking how I was going to cut it and was thinking a side grinder with a thin metal cutting blade would be the way to go, but I found a metal shear at a yard sale for $10, so I have that option to explore. It may work out that the combination of the two tools may make the easiest work of the job.

Since this is a thread that I started and regularly (somewhat regularly) post and mention personal issues, I am going to let you know here that my father passed on Friday. I am not posting this to get the "I'm so sorry's" or the "if there is anything's...". It is just to let a group I have been a member of for four years know that each day is important to let those around you know how important they are, and to forgive the minor indiscretions. He would have been eighty the end of the month and was in failing health. He was wearing out and I knew it. I was able to travel from Florida to N.Y. to spend father's day weekend with him and I am so glad I did. Be gentle with those around you. You will never regret giving a kind word or not saying something inflammatory.

    That sucks man.

A couple of years ago I got this really strong urge to drive down to Louisiana to see my grandmother. I only had the weekend so it really didn't make sense to do a 12 hour drive, visit just for a day, then a 12 hour drive home... but I couldn't stop thinking about it all day Friday.

So, I told my wife I was going, drove down there Friday night & spent a wonderful Saturday with her.

2 weeks later she went into hospice and a week after that she passed.

I'm glad you got to spend Father's Day with him. You just never know.

Well, today not much that will turn into cash... maybe. I got a set of Callaway Big Berth graphite irons, 3-PW for $40. I will try them out and see if I can sell my Spaldings for $60 if the new ones work worth a $hit. The bar isn't too high, I have yet to make a million $'s with the old set.

I did get some extension cords and an old faucet, but nothing worth any excitement.

I did manage to pick up an Amazon Kindle in really nice shape... Looks like new. I may use it myself or I may try to sell it.

The real score this week was from a customer who wanted me to dismantle an old fountain. I thought someone else was going to get it (he had said he would buy it for $400, but after three weeks, I offered her $300 and she accepted). It is a mermaid fountain made of bronze. Probably weighs about 200 lbs. I got it home and listed it for $800 on CL, and got some interest right away, but the wife says she likes it. So now it is listed for $1,000 and will be moved to a place where it can be enjoyed.

I was looking through your thread and noticed a lot of your imgur pics are not there. Are they getting rid of their 3rd party hosting?

No, I just cull the pics occasionally. I have started uploading them to the SMF server so I don't have a ton of pics on the Imgur server if they decide to dump the lot of them like Photophuckit's did.

BTW, sold the Mermaid for $1,000 today.

Mermaid is purdy. I'd like to have had it for 60oz of silver if you hadn't already sold it.

Then again, shipping to TX would be at least another 20 oz .

I went out with my son to the pistol range Saturday (we had a great time), so I didn't get to hunt sales, but I did get out on Fri. I picked up 2#+ of echips for $1. I was told they are voting machine cards ad they look like they have gold chips on them. I will have to send some picks to the buyers here and see what they think.

I was also at an estate sale in a home. They had a mid size, upright commercial freezer open in the garage and I asked the price. They said they weren't sure if it worked and they were having Waste Management pick it up in a couple days. I asked if I could take it and they asked for $10. I told them that I would get probably a nickel a pound for it scrap. I picked up a couple tools and paid the $5 she asked and she told me I could take the freezer if I wanted it. Use your head when you are out there and be friendly, I have a feeling buying the tools without protest my have gotten the freezer for me.

I will plug in the freezer to test, if it works, it will get me $60 on CL or FB. Here is another tip to get more interest in an appliance ad. I have business cards made up that I print out giving a 30 day, no fail guarantee on any appliance I sell. It works three ways...

    1. They feel better about the appliance and I can get more for it. If it fails, I give them back their money back (I of course get the appliance back and can scrap it)

    2. I get to give out a card with my business number on it and they will be likely to keep it.

    3. If they try to negotiate a better price when they come to look at it, I have wiggle room thrown in, I just tell them I will sell it for the price they offer (if it is fair), and tell them that they will sacrifice the 30 day guarantee.

Went out last week and came across a guy with an oxygen tank and an acetylene tank with regulators. Paid $30 for the pair. Listed them on craigslist for $125 each. Sold the O2 tank and regulator yesterday. The guy didn't even haggle. That tank was empty, the acetylene tank is full.

The coolest thing I got today was three Standard Plumbing parts catalogs from 1936. I have listed the one for hospital parts, but I still have two others, and at least one has color samples for the fixtures. The are in great shape, (one looks like it was fairly well used, but the others look like new) I asked the gal what she wanted for the three of them, and she said $5 (I'm ashamed to say I didn't even haggle!)

Just checked for brass tea sets on ebay and it looks like none of them have been sold,... lots listed, but rarely sell. So, looks like the brass tea set will be relegated to the brass bucket and taken as scrap once the auction ends.
