Around here, folks mark stuff with 98.6% of what they paid retail for it. I saw a VCR a couple weeks ago marked $25. Freelz. Junk tube TVs marked $50. I usually just walk up to a couple of items and know if it's even worth hanging around & browsing. And FORGET IT if their sign reads """ESTATE SALE""". Don't even bother stopping.
I go about three or so hours Fri and Sat morns. I kiss ALOT of toads. I am in Sarasota and the population is concentrated in fairly dense suburban neighborhoods. It is an area that has alot of retirees and people who are selling their parents estates and possessions due to death or relocation to retirement homes.

Further research is suggesting perhaps saddle/bridle/tack decoration

Though I'm not the only one to think bottle opener:

Vintage Horse Medal Bottle Opener Oxfordshire 1712 Crown & Cushion England | eBay

Crown and Wreath Horse Harness Brass Bottle Opener | eBay

Yes. I think the correct answer has been found. Good score. We all learned something, too!

Don't toss them in the brass bucket, whatever you do! I'm actually pondering PMing you an offer!

Maybe I should start another thread for Curbco Boo-Ya!, but I got this yahd saling, so... I was on a back street at a yard sale and saw a home AC evaporator unit along the side of the road for trash. I debated picking it up. Yes no yes no, it was just work. I figured the coils would be a bit of a score, so, I picked it up and it still had the cardboard packaging on the bottom and the factory seal on the copper coil. The heat strips had never been hot. I listed it on CL and some guy just came by and paid me $200 for it. I didn't take a pic of the whole unit, but here is the pic of the coil I posted...

I think there is a lot of regional variation in garage sales. t00nces2 lives in a killer area for stuff and prices and I'm sure he also has the "touch". I find variation within my metro. The south end of the city in newer built middle class neighborhoods, I rarely find anything that I like or can flip. The central part in older middle-to-lower middle class, I find more stuff. I can find good stuff in the lower end neighborhoods as well but sometimes stuff is way over priced (I guess trying to get what they can because they need to) or its worn out junk. I also find that I have to hit a lot of sales to find stuff, I probably buy only at about 25% of the places I stop. Rarely have big "mother" loads such as t00nces2. I agree with whoever said "estate sales" done by a paid company suck. They generally are higher price, often at what I can flip it for, and have to pay sales tax on top of it.

This is not going to be a WOW! week, but it was a good week none the less. Deb and I went on a vacation out west. We had a really good time. We took a few pictures and I had them developed at Walgreens. I will send some to my dad, and I thought I would try to find a frame in the garage sale trips. I found a frame to display five of the pictures we had taken ($3)...

Not the greatest, but will do to do what I want it to do.

I also bought a painting at the craft show at the Wharf in San Francisco. I like original paintings and this will be a nice reminder of the great time I had in San Fran. It was matted with no frame. Managed to find a frame I thought would work with the picture ($3)...

I am looking for a frame for my money shot of the vacation (aside from all the pics of my wife). It is not a standard size so I will probably not be able to find a really sweet frame that fits this pic, but I am hoping. This was shot from my cell phone. It is the "tunnel view of Yosemite valley at dawn. The wife and I got up and went into the park at daybreak and the beauty was monumental. I gained in my life having seen this with my own eyes.

I have done checked off three bucket list items this year. I got back to Crater Lake to see the most beautiful natural scene my eyes have ever gazed upon...

I had the most wonderful, epic road trip with my wife (Every wonderful, epic road trip I take with my wife is another check mark on my bucket list), and I will be going to see the total eclipse in a month or so. The two frames I got this week are not big dollar finds, but they are big heart finds.

    Nice!

I went to the Grand Canyon at sunrise on an utterly, perfectly clear morning. I have a couple of pictures of it, but there's simply no way to do justice to the moment.

A camera is woefully inadequate to capture this moment. This picture really doesn't even look all that cool. I put my camera in my pocket after I shot this one, though. Utterly awesome. If you ever get a chance to witness a sunrise at the Grand Canyon...... do it.

Nice. If that schoolhouse frame didn't already go into your infamous brass bucket, they appear to go for about the same.

The funny thing about that spyglass was that is sold to a guy about five miles from me.

That pic was taken along the side of the road that goes through Lassen Volcanic National Park, but Crater Lake had similar snow drifts along Rim Rd around the lake. Both roads were impassible due to snow.
