they really vary a fair amount...double sided flatpack ones will weigh alot more than single, simms can go either way....there really isn't a hard and fast rules of thumb because of the variables (simm, dimm, sodimm...ddr ddr2 ddr3, sigle or double sided).
best option if you want a reasonable idea is it use a kitchen food scale (cheap and easy to get)....will get you in the ballpark
DON'T forget, there are a couple of buyers on here for the larger ones (1gb and up) that will pay more than scrap if they test clean when they get them....I will be one of those buyers hopefully soon....pro ramtester is NOT cheap.

I have some basic numbers for you:
For desktop memory (DDR/DDR2/PC 100) will take about 12-15 sticks to make a pound. I usually need 13 per pound, but that depends on the amount of chips per stick. A 128 MB DDR stick will only have chips on one side, where a larger stick may have chips on both sides.
For laptop memory, I assume that 2 sticks are needed to make 1 desktop stick. This isn't the most accurate calculation, but if you stick two laptop sticks next to a desktop stick, you'll see that the distance is close-ish. I would say that about 20 laptop DIMMs will make a pound.
I don't have any figures for RD-RAM or the older 72 PIN SIMMs. They will vary a lot.

Yup Army is right. I average 21-23 stcks per pound. Older ram with larger chips run a few less per pound.
BONUS INFO---- it takes 10-11 pounds of ram to get 1 lb of ram fingers.

yeah 20 to 25 sticks is average for 1 pound of ram.

I just started putting ram sticks on a scale, not looking at type, just random placing on scale. took 23 sticks to get 16.01 oz, that's a pound by me.

I have been dealing with a lot of RAM lately. I have been seeing 20 to 30 sticks per pound. 20 for bigger, but 30 sticks for newer RAM with small chips only on one side.

I always bundled my ram by the pound so it was easier to ship - now I checked my scale with a couple pounds of ground beef to make sure I was pretty spot on, and I usually averaged 16-20 - mostly in the 16 range. I could understand 20-25 for single sided newer memory mostly.

I weighed some green normal RAMs from your average consumer desktop and got 14.45 grams.
