    It looks like an older generator. Judging by the oil filler it might be a Briggs & Stratton somewhere between six and ten HP. Where it's going into a generator head the output shaft is tapered. It's task specific to that particular application.

    There should be a model # & serial number stamped somewhere on the engine block or air cowl. Always handy to have if you need to order parts.
