    Guess the Weight

Ugly load of wire today mixed in with a few wooden posts. Took two of us about 1 1/2 hours to load and took the claw operator about 15 seconds to unload. Not a big payload by any means, but have a happy customer who has more and even better stuff. It's on a 20' trailer. What do you think it weighed.

Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

It is hard to see how much of the wire was rolled -v- piled. Using the price is right strategy, I guess 824 lb. Can't wait to see what it actually weighed. Any idea when the contest will end?

Thanks for making this a fun site y'all. There IS actually a big difference weightwise when wire is rolled and this load had about 25 hand rolled loops of barbed wire. Also about 15 steel T-posts plus the firewood...no biggie. A herd of cows was very curious of our goings-on and chose to stand there and watch (cows are funny animals). Wife and I loaded with a skidsteer of course. She had to cut the contrary wires that irritated the loading. Didn't even wrap any around the axle this time. LOL

The load was an even 2 ton.....(4,000 lbs) and paid $85 a ton; same as auto bodies at the local yard. They classed it ''shreddable wire". Not a big moneymaker when I give half to the owner !! On the brightside, it came from the site of an old homestead and when I get old(er), I hope to get a metal detector and go hunting at all those sites I'm finding.

Almost not worth it at only 85 a ton.

If you knew an out of work flatbed (owner-operator) truckdriver, Pay them 600-650 cash to bring at least 20 ton of scrap to South Bend Ind.
They're paying around 200 a ton, $$ then the driver could go over to Columbia City and get a backhaul of steel I beams out of the mill for around 2.00 a mile. 30 ton could gross you $6000.

PS- it's only 547 mi from Omaha.
