    That's totally awesome.

Can't find anything on google that says you can't...even found a youtube video of one at the scrap yard.

Just make sure there's no money stuck in it anywhere. I'd be going over that puppy with a fine tooth comb.

Reminds me of an episode of Breaking Bad where Spooge's old lady pushes the ATM crushing his head while he's trying to punch out the bottom......

guy had a 7-11 and had it in his garage for 10 years, they dropped it moving it and didn't want to use it any more. Anyone can buy an atm I think if you have the money.

Reminds me of some of the thefts where they hook onto one uptown and with their truck they tear it out of it's frame and drag it home.

    Uh..are ATM's legal to scrap?

I''ve been in the ATM business for many years now and have scrapped quite a few as they become obsolete or when they're damaged beyond repair from a robbery. Chances are, if you found it, it trashed and doesn't have any salvageable parts. There's a few high grade boards in it; especially inside the keypad. You might also find some stainless steel on the door and brass in the lock; other than that, you're looking at all shred. If there's money in it...well...let's hope you do the right thing.

    Uh..are ATM's legal to scrap?

I just now saw the pic of the ATM. It's a Tidel IS 1000. An easy way to get in.....drill a 3/8" hole at the 3 o'clock position just to the right of the dial lock (imagine the dial being a clock and the drill point will be 1" to the right at 3 o'clock). Take a hole punch and a hammer and give it a few good licks. This will drive the bolt into the ATM and you'll be able to turn the handle. It takes about 5-10 minutes. When I would buy used ATMs, I'd sometimes have to do this if I didn't know the combo.
