Tools and magnets are a dime a dozen for a scrapper...I think a trailer, or even a small ATV (only a couple hundred bucks new) would be cool.

Don't listen to me though, I'd be happy with a t-shirt.

Thanks y'all for all the great ideas! Every month we also give away 3 gift bags that include a coupon for a price increase on your next load, magnets, gloves and hats with our logo on them. We also have a monthly BBQ where I give out shirts, hats, magnets, gloves and jackets with our logo on them.

I like the idea of a Home Depot gift card or a gas card. Maybe I will also do some consolation prizes like a cooler filled with tools, fix-a-flat, gloves and other scrapper necessities.

Some of the buyers also threw out the idea of giving away a new set of tires. I like that idea, because its probably something every scrapper needs, but always puts off. Maybe I will sweeten the deal with a scrap yard survival kit that includes gloves, hard hat, vest, fix-a-flat and a tire repair kit.

DISCLAIMER: You will not get a flat at my yard (probably). We do a sweep of our whole yard every morning with a huge magnet to pick up nails and screws. The few times my customers have gotten a screw in their tire, I send them to our maintenance shop and our guy plugs the tire free of charge.

My local yard has a points program where you keep a balance through the year. Once you get to 2000 points, you get your choice of a Walmart, Lowes. Outback. or VISA card of $25. I average a card every four to six months. Nice incentive to return often.

A new yard here is doing the punch card thing, I like it. 20.00 extra on your ticket on the 8th punch. Each load has to be 50.00 or more to get a punch.

The only thing our yards have given us (except for free nails in our tyres...)

Is the monogrammed magnet key chain.

Boy those magnet keychains pay off in the next visit alone......

Its very impressive when I pull my keychain out and start checking metal for ferrous...
They KNOW I mean business when I can do that.

Fuel vouchers is a really good idea. Often I pay a friend or such to take me n my metal to the scrapper.
I allways use my 'top off money' to pay them with.
Like I may guess I have $350 worth of scrap, but I guess low so any extra is extra $$.
Thats what I pay my guys petrol and costs with.
Often its exactly what my Ali cans are worth. Since the Ali cans just accumilate, there's no work in it for me.
So, basicly the transport costs are free for me and the guys really happy with his extra bonus.

Oh, incentive for escrap and computers is Cat food. Computer owners are normally Cat people.
