Thanks for the comments guys. We were thinking about picking up a trailer I've had my eye on and making a go of scrapping over the summer. We live about 2 hours north of Atlanta so there would be plenty of auto shops to approach for rotors and engine blocks down there.

    1. Do you think my wife and I could make a grand or more a month scrapping in rural North Georgia?

    2. If I set up a website and posted on craigslist do customers go online looking for services?

    3. What would you recommend to get business or what should we watch out for?

    1. If you plan on scrapping full time and you do it right, you could probably make 5k per month. Even if you plan on scrapping part time, you can still make 1k a month easy. It depends on how dedicated you are to it. You get out what you put in.

    2. This will get you some business, but I wouldn't recommend it as your only way of advertising. Call local companies that deal with metal, put an ad in the paper, etc. From what I hear, scrap metal is pretty common in rural areas.

    3. I wouldn't expect much from the Atlanta area. Scrappers are everywhere in big cities and I'd bet every last company is already spoken for. I may be wrong, but that's usually how it is.

Keep us updated on the trailers. It's been awhile since we've heard any news.

There's nothing more fun and more effective than hitting something repeatedly with a sledgehammer

Yea, I haven't been posting, but things are still moving forward scrapping the trailers. We went after one that was down a hill and cleaned up some other areas around the property.

I went ahead and created a blog for future updates. I invite everyone here to keep up with the project and comment with your ideas. They really do help a lot.

The link in my signature goes to the rest of the updates. Thanks
