    A day in the life

Well, this post is going to be me rambling a bit. So I hope you all don't mind!

First thing, you know you go to the scrap yard too often when you pull up to the scale they know your name, your scrap card number, the make, model and year of your car all without having to ask. LoL! I guess it means I am a good customer though if they can remember me so well. What do you think?

My days have been rather similar lately. Up at 4am to hit up Crossfit for my 5am work out. Home by 6:15ish, do some house work and then jumping right into business no later then 8:30 or 9am! Pick ups and drop offs have been staying very consistent, the client base is growing, and the material to process is steady which makes me extremely happy.

I had a few great pickups recently that provided me with plenty of computer towers to process, motherboards to sort through, and other random parts. I love being kept busy.

Networking has been incredible. One happy customer seems to bring a couple more customers along and the process continues. It's great to have the hard work paying off.

At this point, my only fear is taxes! LoL! I am awaiting my accountant to finish getting everything calculated to see how hard I get hit for 2012 taxes. I am hoping not too bad since the business was just starting out but only time can tell. Have any of you been hit hard by taxes?

Hopefully, we will know in the next week or so where we stand.

How has everyone elses scrapping been going? Any great finds? Any fun news?

Congratulations on the business success. I empathize about the taxes. I was discouraged a couple weeks ago about them, too. Then I realized that this really means I am being more successful than I figured (underestimated quarterly filings). Still, kind of a bummer having to come up with several thousand dollars in a short amount of time. Solution? Do more business; make more money; plan on owing even more taxes next year.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Curb hunting stile and hunting for clients requires driving @ .45 tax rite off per mile alone but sure if you hit big it's real money with a nice paper trail

as far as my business's the tax rate for being a small business is about 28%. there are things you can do to lower what amount of your gross is taxable i would suggest talking to a tax expert to find out what will work best for you. I dedicate a room in my house for my business i get a write off on phone bill electricity and mortgage. as well as you gas write off keep track of your miles and if you get repairs on your "work vehicle" having a second vehicle will increase write off as your vehicle is only for work. any insurance you carry on yourself is also deductible. Tools and clothes for your business are also deductible. Also working a legitimate job that has taxes taken out helps if you claim to have more taxes taken out then they help offset the taxes needed to pay in from tax free income. going llc i hear helps with the tax rate and i am going to do this next year to protect my house and personal assets now that i work around other peoples homes most worth millions! I am not a tax expert but just some things i have learned along the way good luck!
two things that are certain in life death and taxes
