Paying $1 for 1 oz copper is just plain nutz. I f you feel a need to hoard copper go get a couple of $20 boxes of pennies and start sorting. As stated you will doubling your money right off the bat and have a universally accepted from of copper. As a hedge against hyperinflation it is impracticable to store that much physical copper. Sliver is, IMHO, the best bet.
As far as hoarding until price recovers the If you can wait you will be rewarded. The Gold to copper ratio has been artificially high for a long time , same goes for silver. Linky
