    im famous for scrapping lol

Supervisors will call on DEP to help resolve hazardous issue - News - The Times-Tribune

This is ridiculous. I have already been cleared from the DEP when the neighbors first called. Now they got the zoning board on me and now the 5 o clock news.

    When will this **** stop?

Scrapping is about survival. Sure I may have some stuff well hidden in my shed or god forbid, my truck. But this is absurd and ludicris. Even my lawyer put in the paperwork to fight the citations and they said it wasnt.

Since was scrapping running a junkyard??? II wish I did have one, hell give my left nut and my first born for one. I would be set for life. But all Im doing is surviving, nothing more.

And for the matter barely hanging on. Just trying to get by. There hasnt even been one junk car here yet. Jusdt some appliances and some electric motors.

Since when do we live in Russia?? If anything I should be considered a sub doing clean out and demo wok. Hell for the last month I just been stashing **** in my shed. As I been doing a demo job on a office building pulling the old hvac system out.

And to top it off, its also like a hobby. I love to tinker and build things. Also love to take things apart to figure out it worked. Which is what made a me a good mechanic back in the day before my back imploded.

All Im doing is trying to hang on by a thread till and if I ever get my ss disability. Working on the 3rd appeal and 2 years of waiting, so doubt that will happen with the way the gov is anymore.

    Peace!!

Ozzy, looks like Nancy Maureen is part of your problem. Have you talked to the other residents to find out who else is complaining?

People hate when other people make legit money on the side. Its amazing about the the amount of ignorance out there about what we do. First and foremost its recycling. We keep alot of plastics and metals and toxic materials out of landfills. Remember if the scrappers dont process the material its destined for landfills reguardless. Reguarding neighbors if you keep your property clean they shouldnt bother you, everthing we call scrap looks like junk to everyone else. 90% of our society does not even know that we get paid for metals. The the other 9% is what we call the "haters" people that know we get paid for metals but hate us for doing it. Then that leaves us the 1% of our population that actually collect and sell scrap.

Have you thought about inquiring through economic development agencies, that sort of thing? there are what, a thousand vacant industrial or warehouse buildings in Scranton/Wilkes Barre? I'm willing to be that you know someone, who knows someone else, who has a building rented somewhere with a section unused that you could strike a deal with them, use it in exchange for a percentage until you get the ball rolling. There are "business incubators" for just about everything to do with white collar work, why not a recycling business? You never know until you ask. Ask enough, and eventually you'll find someone willing to help you make a connection. The Lackawanna County Planning & Economic Development Dept might be a good first contact: Departments/Agencies

Otherwise, it seems odd that you would be cited for "litter" if you are running an orderly process. Perhaps the official might point out specifically what he refers to as litter, and then it might be in your best interest to clean it up. And rather than picking a fight with whomever is ratting you out, you might ask them what you could do that would balance your business/hobby with their view of what would be acceptable. Not pointing fingers, just thinking maybe what seems acceptable to you is not fully inline with your neighbors point of view. Not saying they're necessarily right, just saying that no matter where you live or what you live in, it's neighborly to be respectful of neighbors feelings.

What were the citations for. The article mentions them but not the charge. As always the media leaves out the most important details. Also sounds like that enforcement officer is in someone's back pocket. Also bs is the statement that the dep chose to ignore an environmental complaint. They investigate every one of them. If they are going to bust chops on you then they have to do it to everyone living there. No more changing the oil on cars, no moredo it yourselfers fixing their homes. What is good for one should be good for all. I tried to write an email to the author of article pointing this out but it came back undeliverable. Keep us posted.

The citations were repeatedly storage of junk/litter in a a1 zone and running a home based business without a variance. Something to that effect. I don't have them in front of me. And yes the DEP was here once. He didnt even get out of the car, just drove by. Like the old smile and wave boys ideal. As long as no scrap dumpsters and junk cars, no junkyard in their eyes. They didnt care what I was doing.

Your absolutely right about someone being in someones back pocket or down on their knees, etc.

And the funniest thing is Im not ignoring ****. Lawyer is handling paperwork. Its been taken care of.
And brass I dont know why ya email bounced back as I sent one. And it seemed to go through. Im going to call in the am to talk to the writer.

If you are storing "junk" then that means it is indoors somewhere, unless it was piled where prying eyes could see. But from your op you said it was in a shed. I wonder how many of your neighbors store junk in their sheds. What a load of crap!!!!!! Hopefully you get everything cleared up and you can get out of there. When you do throw a scrapping party. Invite some of us down, everyone bring something to tear apart with the loudest tool we have and go out with a bang. I can bring a 1 1/2 rotary hammer that sounds real nice at 0900 on a Sunday morning....lol

Neighbors ya gotta love em, this is why I chose to live in a rural setting without em. I can work and play inside or outside all night long and not bother a soul.

Its not like your living in the City here, looked you up on google maps.

I will snap some pics of the surroundings and you can all judge me. I personally dont think it is bad at all.

Oh there is more of this stuff as the neighbor put me through. But will not post publicly. Trying to see if I can get a libel or harassment suit going. I'm even facing eviction due to this neighbor.

But the rotary hammer is a great idea. I been making sure that I MAKES lots of noise during the day. Like making sure the air compressor runs all day and my lovely tool, the AIR HAMMER!!!!

Especially my air hammer. I had to rig the trigger spring with a new one. So it dont close the trigger all the way. So rhythmically taps all day as long as it has air. Kinda sounds like a tiny motorcycle or chain saw before I pull the trigger.

Also been purposely running my genny all day for no reason other than to get rid of some drain gas thats no good. I got one of those older 5500 watt generacs that run full tit at 3450 rpm all day long with no auto idle like the new ones have. Sounds like a jet...lol./

I have ways to get even legally without be touched by the cops...trust me.

Also the funniest thing is the landlord had no problem with me. He understood completely and had his graces when I moved in here back in March. But he turned against me as he got tired of hearing the b### b### all the time.

Are you familiar with the expression "respect gets respect"? Ah, nevermind. I'll go way out on a limb here and predict more citations...
