    Theft problem

I HAD some very nice pieces of Tin coated brass from the electric company trash bins and other very unique items taken . These are my nicest items , Solid chunks of brass that I don't have any more, its not even the money. I know what I had and now I don't - my mind is very sharp when it comes to this as well as I am sure many of you get that connected feeling with your inventory .

I know it's probably illegal, but a little bit of wire, and a well charged marine battery might solve some theft problems

You need to connect a coil from a car to the battery and to the wire. Highly illegal yet very effective.

Obviously there are people out there that know you are into scrapping. The best advice I can give you until you are able to secure your property is to sell as you acquire. Don't hold for a better price because you risk losing your stash. Best of luck to you and I hope they catch the roaches.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

I find that non dangerous things keep crooks away much more than ones that come with a lawsuit

    1. a good lock
    2. motion sensor lights outside
    3. motion sensor lights inside
    4. a well lit area around your building so they don't have a place to sneak
    5. a "this property protected by x security company" even if it's not

All these will go a long way. Also make friends with the local bacon. Pick them up donuts, coffee, lunch. They will remember and make the extra effort to keep an eye on your stuff.

Lastly you can come up with some fun things. Like myself when i leave my garage i hook a small spring to my busted radio button and i crank the volume to the max. If some one opens the door, string pulls spring, radio blasts music. that wakes up my dog, that wakes me up, that wakes up my 12 gauge.

    Simple yet effective.

My neighbor has a big sign that says "if you can read this, your in range. And shows a pic of a big handgun. They get the point.

I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""

Crooks was an easy target. Anything you can do to make yourself more visible the less they will be inclined to even think about it.

I've taken pallets and placed them over all 5 windows in my garage. They still let sunlight in during the day time but when trying to look in at night you cant see a **** thing or at least make out that you are looking at.

I'm glad I dont have that problem. Nobody around here messes with my stuff. The punk kids all know better (pays to be on good terms with them) and my other neighbors don't give two ****s...there's the one family across the street who knows everything about everyone, they don't like my house due to previous tennants (drugs, strippers, cops always called, etc) but there's plenty of times I made two or 3 trips across the street to pick up scrap he put out, even asked to be sure, and he said "that's what it's there for"

Any my girlfriend wants to move. Ha.

It may even scare the crap out of who ever is doing it....on top of that it will let everyone know there is someone there that should not be!
