Just a note on this article...all the comments are 1-2 years old AND they all address the fact that this article is at least 2 yrs old....that being said ALL the data is going to be outdated AND several people in comments question the validity of the numbers used. I can also say that VAST improvements in a recycling process can be made in 2 yrs....and that generally happens in hard to process things since they get more prevalent in the marketplace (ie so many more batteries now vs then).

The evidence points that prices have certainly gone down for many version of the LI-Ion batt...however, there are still buyers and people are still buying them.....they are easy to get and still worth several times the value of shred, so easy to deal with for many....it CAN be difficult if you do not have a buyer within reasonable distance of course, especially if you are getting alot of ni-mh ones worth .15-20/lb (ie can't really ship)....only way that make sense is to be a buyer and ship HUGE amounts out to places that are buying....and those can be found on couple of the scrap buying boards.
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell
