Picking up 50+ monitors and 4 or 5 towers tomorrow

I saw an ad under the computer section of CL and it said 35+ monitors. It was posted at 3:40p today and the ad was still up as of an hr and a half ago, so I text the guy my phone number and he called me back in about 15 seconds and come to find out he has 50+ monitors and 3 or 4 macs that he wants to get rid of b/c he has to much going on including a full time job. He wants $30 for all of it. I'm renting a 4x7 utility trailer for $15 and now I really need a storage unit. Time to go talk to my dad's friend who owns a storage company. I figure I'm only going to need it for a week or less. Boy oh boy is my copper and aluminum pile gonna grow! It's a 65 mile round trip so it should only be about an 1/8 tank of gas so all n all including the $30 total money spent will be about $70.

thats a sick score to say the least. watch the chocolate rose with Craigslist ads though :-p whatcha gonna do with all them tubes?

Just a warning, a lot of Craigslist add like this are gutted monitors/towers, where someone has scrapped out all the goodies and are using you to haul away with what they don't want to deal with. Ask specifics before spending your money/time/gas to get them. If you do rent a trailer to go get them, get a guarantee that things won't be given away before you get there.

I was the only one that had called him. I did talk to him on the phone for about 15 minutes. He told me he just wanted to get his shed cleaned out so he could put some lawn equipment in it. About the glass, I can call my township and they will come pick them up free of charge or I could drop them off at the public works building. I recycle everything including abs plastics. I don't get paid for the plastic but I would rather see it recycled/reused then it end up in a landfill somewhere.

LoL CH I am crazy enough to do it just don't wanna do all that though. If there was more in it I probably would. I'll let the twp deal with them.

Some tv's do have a nice round circumference chunk of steel that passes as short . I hold my breath & do-it out side I also hope for a little wind , old glass i leave for glass re-cycler

In addition, computers and other electronic equipment contains small amounts of mercury and hexavalent chromium which also should not be burned or landfilled.

Working electronics can be donated to Goodwill Services (576.7145).

On the subject of lead in the CRT - Does any one know where it is ? . Is it mixed with the glass ? I never actually saw typical lead that could be sold as lead from a CRT Lead is about .50 .60 per lb

No lead metal, but leaded glass that is used, needed to make the glass strong enough and also to block xrays.
