there is one for sale (in Germany) on Ebay...like $22 OBO. Like you said, no solds.

It definitely is older...1984 I think. Biggest thing would be...does it work?? Test it and see.

I would think you will need to find a specialist online board for collectors of old players...I am sure SOMEONE collects the things. I would start there for CD player collector...or search 1st gen cd player collector or board.....Might be such a specialty that you need to go that route...I know alot of vintage computer stuff can sell better on boards like that rather than Ebay.

    Good Luck
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

Not sure why they turn sideways for me, I take them up and down and with the phone turned but they always come out that way. It works perfectly and is in mint condition, the guy who gave it to me is an IT specialist with too much money and time on his hands since retirement.

I sold one of these Marantz CD players for NZ$70 to a 2nd hand HiFi shop.

But anything Marantz that's Gold coloured is collectable

I think the big selling point is the age 1984...and I believe it is 1st generation...that stuff is typically desirable. The biggest thing will be if it works and overall condition....but I am betting someone somewhere will want it for more than scrap....the only issue will be the effort vs what you end up getting. If nothing else it will be a GREAT learning experience for you and really ALL of us if you update the thread.

I have searched for forums boards all kinds of stuff and I have had no luck but I am not giving up because I know there's something out there is someone out there. I have searched the locally I searched Google it's tough but you know considering it's a CD player and not a vintage radio or a silly MP3 player the market is there but there's people out there. It does work there are no scratches no marks on it it is brand new condition very mint and I have the original box and even have the Styrofoam in the plastic bag that it comes in.

It's the web..there's a forum for everything. It's just a matter of asking Google or whatever search engine in the right manner.

Did you try this forum? Audiokarma Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums Bunch of sub forums for all kinds of audio stuff from radios with tubes on up.

Or this one? Vintage Audio Equipment Forums

It says betamax but they have again several sub forums dedicated to audio equipment through the ages.

    How about these?
Antique Radio Forums • View forum - Vintage Audio Equipment

    Vintage Asylum

Vintage HiFi Audio Forum - Index

    http://www.audioaficionado.org/vintage-audio/

All of those were found within 2 minutes with a simple search of "Vintage Audio Forums" using google. I didn't bother to search for your item, I figured I'd leave the fun for you. Like I said above, you may have to dig to find the info. That can be made easier by using those forums search functions. If it's of any worth I imagine someone would have posted something about it over the years.

Never say never when it comes to the internet. It's far to big to assume such with it. Heck making an inquiry post on any or all of those forums could possibly lead you to more info on it's value, specs, etc.

On the bright side..I did find an ad for your cd player, that sold for 5 bucks.

    Good luck.

Well, perhaps another will take the time to do the research for you on those forums.

    It won't be me though.

    Good luck.

I don't want anyone to do the research for me, like I said before I've already looked into these ones really not too much time to do the digging is all I'm saying. I guess from your quotes and previous post supposedly I'm the Horse and you're the leader... that water looks a little funny colored to me so I'll keep searching for water that is a little bit clearer.

So after the mystery of the cd player is solved, I guess we get to look at sideways pictures of your grandmothers vcr and how you can't find any info on it.

Nice. Can't wait. Getting the popcorn ready.

A friend bought a Phillips CD payer when they first came out.
    It cost him NZ$1400.....
The other one was $1600 . Considering this was in 1984 or whenever they were first sold, and he probably earnt $200 a week...

I look back and wonder how we could afford it. A couple of years later I was earning $150 a week, paid $300 for a tapedeck.
My HIFI video cost me $1200 and a Pioneer 6disc CD player cost me $500 when I was earning $200+ /week.
I have 3 of those 6disc players that I found in rubbish scrap, now.

My best ever find was a Sansui AU-777 amp.

A truly legendary amp and my best ever find, still in the box.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink... I would smash that cd player on the ground, pull the circuit board and move on. There are bigger fish to fry..
