Heavy Truck Radiators: Worth how much?

    Hello friends in Scrapville.

I'm very new at scraping metal and wanted to know more about radiators in general.

What is the approx. value in dollars for heavy truck radiators?

What metals are used in radiators ?

    Thanks

FistFull of Crap, (I mean Scrap)

Most truck radiators will brass. Assuming you "clean" it (take off any steel lines), right now, you should be getting about $1.50/lb. If they're aluminum, they're probably about 0.54/lb (again - if the plastic sides and steel lines are removed) - they'll go the same as "Sheet Aluminum" or "Prepared Aluminum". If you don't clean them, they're "Unprepared" (Brass Radiators or Aluminum).

Metals - Brass or Aluminum, depending...

Oh, also -- quick way of telling if a radiator is brass or aluminum.... Brass will have metal (brass) tops/bottoms and aluminum will be plastic.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I usually get $35-40 for a brass radiator from a 70's or 80's pickup truck (small block V8) at current prices here. A radiator from a big block or diesel will be much bigger, therefore more $$$... big trucks, i'm not sure what they would get, but i'd imagine if they are brass and for a big block or diesel engine, probably upwards of $50 each.
