    I got another for 50 yesterday too man. Get your info out there, people who want cars removed who don't look online probably don't know alot about scrap or aren't interested in getting lots of cash. I go around in my little acura and pop fliers in mailboxes out in oro or essa. And post fliers on community boards. Look on kijiji for cars for sale. I got a venture once for 200. I see tons starting at 200 in T.O. Too far for me to make money on but might be ok for you. Im always lookin for deals on kijiji. If i see anything your way I'll msg you.
    If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

    I dont do gas right now but i want to start.

    1st I never say never, but ive not ever lost a car just because of cash flow, ive got over 20 cars in the yard, stacks of radiators and a stack of converters, moneys money whether it be in my bag or stacked up in my yard, I buy a lot of cars paid cash for 15 at a time before, ive also had to run like crazy during the course of a day seeingmy bag go from less than a 100 to over a 1000 and back to less than a 100, my personal experience is Im surprised at the end of the week on a week like this as that's when I forget how many converters ive cut off and how many aluminum wheels are by the tire machine

    2nd as far as the gas I don't do the pump method but a lot of guys on here do, I modified a oil drain kit with a hose and run it to my gas jugs, I poke a hole in plastic tanks with a wood boring bit, on metal tanks I use a concrete punch. my dad lives down the road and hasn't bought gas for his fourwheeler or his lawnmower inover a year, the rest of the gas goes to steve or dustin. when we buy the big passenger vans in bulk they are always full and we sell the surplus to a local car dealer

    we got shirts couple months back and you would be surprised the looks we get looking all "official" and we get asked for a lot more business cards because of them, ive got the magnets also and they help but the shirts seem to have been the better investment

    last but not least I would love to have a two car trailer, I almost bought one once and didn't pull the trigger, ive got a lot of wrecker yard contracts and always buying multiple cars at once.

    i seem to be paying between 200/300 for everything these days, last couple cars I've had a lot of competition on ended up paying almost .08LB ON . and hoping the cats not rotted out. just had a ford escape last week paid to much for it, but sold a few parts still came close to 200 in my pocket, the cat was nfg, ended up selling for ten bucks. half the biskets were gone. lot of ware and tare on my truck everything is 30/40min drive, all seem to be in new market or Pickering Oshawa area. I'm really surprised your yard up in Barrie is paying 5 more a ton then down here were closer to the trains to the mills

    I really don't like paying more than 200 for any car. And no more than 300 for vans and 350 for trucks. I get too worried about whether Im gonna lose money on it. And I never have luck selling parts. Ever. Nobody ever wants parts from my cars lol. Id start buying newer scrap but i have noooo idea what to offer. Don't wanna over pay.

    Not sure why our yards here are paying more. They looked pretty barren last i was there so maybe that's why.

    Hey Jord: Good thinking on the pricing structure- I would be wary of two small things:
    Trucks- although big GENERALLY tend to weigh less than they appear (That big empty bed in the back I reckon.) I'd probably bump down your truck buying target price a smidge
    Vans: Be a little cautious here as well: A Minivan (Chevy Astro, Caravan etc) at $300 will net you a small profit, An Econoline Van at $300 will sit you pretty- they weigh nearly 2 tons! Another tip beware of a recent learning lesson I had- Chevy Lumina vans of the early 90's are Fiberglass Bodies, as well as Oldsmobile Silhouette.. They both curb at about 3500+lbs, but when in doubt- googling curb weight is your best bet to be sure you are buying at a price that the body alone will cover your investment :-)
    I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

    Any cars, big or small, never more than 200. I buy Caravans or montanas usually for 250-280 (depending on the tires and rims. and bigger vans for 300 max. Trucks i pay a bit more for cause people like to keep old trucks on the road. Parts sell well. And they are full frame vehicles. Thick and heavy. You're absolutely right about curb weight. But i take lots off the cars so i gotta aim a bit lower usually.

    Jord: You're on it.. I just wanted to post up.. If you are laying in bed at night worrying you paid too much.. if you pay under what (curb weight X sheet steel price is currently)- you'll never lose on a vehicle. It's a simple equation that has netted me a perfect streak of never losing $ on any vehicle I have bought. :-)

    I just worry more about expenses adding up for each car. I mean my trucks a real pig on fuel. Like its baaaad. I get something like 7-9mpg in the city. Slightly better on the highway. Empty... I do need smaller tires... but i still don't know if that will help much.

    This gives me an idea. Im gonna do an experiment with these last two cars i got. Im gonna pretend i paid just under curb weight for them. Strip them and cash them in individually. Deduct expenses. See what i end up with. Iv never gone in the red on a car before either, and i dont want to ever.

    i bought a 4dr 4wd blazer last week for $400, been a long time since ive been able to pick one up that cheap, ive been getting about $3000 worth of parts out of each one plus $200 worth of scrap

    I've got Ram thirst as well...Mine is a '00 with the 318. Every drop helps with the bottom line.
    Love the cars with broken transmissions. They generally have more fuel than clunkers. Last one had 3/4 tank Caravan with broken a broken tranny. Had to pick that one up in a grocery store parking lot.
    Didn't mind paying 300 for that one and a bonus got to fix up my van

    5.2/5.9 have the same gas mileage. Running that size as well. Just bought a set in Bowmanville 400$ for 5 with Dodge rims.

    Nice! like the diesels. I am getting better mpg, would not have thought so. But its the mud tires.

    I WISH mine got that. My trucks been a lemon since i bought it. Horrible gas mileage. Zero power. No b@lls at all. Breaks Down constantly.

    Injection pump, lift pump, countless wheel bearings. A whole new front end. Steering box. I still have 3-4 inches of free play in the steering wheel. Hanger bearings. 2 in 2 years. U joints. God knows what else Im missing. And i don't buy cheap crap. But they still keep failing prematurely. 50 bucks gets me to Toronto and back, cruising at 105. Empty. I think the tires have a lot to do with it. im hoping.

    Allllll that crap, and i still love the darn thing... The sound... Ohh bud. Gets me every time.

    What kind of cars are you buying. Iv sold 30 bucks worth of parts off one of those cars... And i don't wanna sit with them forever. Id love to be able to spend more on cars but i just can't see myself getting the money back. Im not a parts yard or anything so i don't have much luck selling parts.
