    ive got cars everywhere :)

sorry guys ive not been on a lot lately, and for those of you that have called me and I havnt returned your call im sorry, been covered up.

me and steve have not parted ways but he has forfeited his half for a few personal vehicles in the clear and if I need his help ever he said he would be there. this has grown into more than either of us had ever thought, the first year we were hoping to get 50 cars or about one a week, that was over 600 cars ago and 1 3/4 years. ive still got dustin(today he had the day off) and other guys I can call in reserve.

to put it in perspective today I was by my self, I scrapped a Taurus, strictly a rush job, converters, battery, wheels and gas, picked up a ford farmont and flipped it to a dealer, picked up a 4x4 ford flipped to the same dealer, picked up a grand prix gt and hauled it home, a dealer is coming by in the morning to check out the car. also today I ate lunch with my yard manager, met a core buyer and had to unload my cats because i bought a total of 11 cars unseen at the wrecker yard, I actually paid the lady with the wrecker yard at the parking lot I picked up the grand prix from a different person , broke down and sold some tires, sold some gas and batteries. for the record all vehicles were bought in the range of 200 to 350. sure I missed some minor things but I think I got the highlights

    cars everywhere,
13 scrappers or projects in my yard(not counting personal vehicles)
    11 at the yard today
    2 at john henrys yard

the yard is closed thurday thru sunday, im gonna be moving cars for four days, most of the wrecks I will have the motors pulled at a guy I use about an hour and 1/2 round trip

hey cory first off i want to say congrats for the hard work you are doing .if you work hard and have common sense and a strong back you will go far. .years ago i sold a ton of cars one year. alot came from auctions.back then junk was very low cars sold for 1.85 per hundred pounds. id get 10 for under 400 dollars most of the time. and if it was a smaller car i would charge for removal most of the time.ahh those were the days(NO COMPETITION) any how when you are reselling make sure you dont put the cars into your name before you sell them. im sure you are not cause it costs to make the titles and its easier to just get the old owner to sign the title and transfer it straight to the person you sell to.anyhow in Ohio you can only sell so many cars per year without a dealers license.they track this by the number of titles you have fixed at the courthouse .im not sure how many it is but if you go over you will have a big problem at tax time at least i did.it cost me around 4500 dollars by the time it was all over with that was counting fines and fees of course.they charged me an outrageous amount of taxes on the profit i made off every car,the problem didn't lie in the ones i actually resold ,it came from the ones i junked.since the ones i sold were all sold as 100 dollars each no matter what i sold them for that wasn't a big deal.the problem was for the ones i junked.since the titles were never transferred and i bought such a large amount they thought i was doing something illegal with them( at least thats the conclusion i came to ) long story short they charged me taxes on the difference in what i payed for the cars from the actual blue book value for every car that i had put in my name that i no longer owned i swear they charged me for the ink they wrote my bill up with and the stamp they used to mail it.i never thought it would cause me a problem at the time but the ones from the auction all went into my name i would get a title in my name about 2 weeks after i bought the car. now i junked 95 percent of them but none the less it was a recorded title transfer in my name,im not sure if it was because i bought the cars in another state or what..anyhow when i saw you say you have been buying from an impound lot i just wanted to let you know what happened to me.i don't want to come off as a know it all or anything like that. and im not trying to say it will happen or anything .id just hate to see the same thing happen to an up and coming power scrapper.well that's all i was wanting.i want to say good job one more time and wish you luck..scrap on little brother

I've made the trip the Charlotte a few times. It ca be a long trip. But the scenery is real nice especially in the fall. I for one would love to see you come over some day and would make a special effort to come up to Cory's. I could even be persuaded to Bar-b-q a shoulder and bring it if I had the time.

Ha ha! Barren before I make the trip I'll make sure your schedule is clear so you can bring that shoulder an join us. If I recall we need to have our drinking duel over the whole 007 thing.

When you made the trip Barren, did you go I 40? I know it starts/end here in NC right around Charlotte if I recall.

Sorry for jacking your thread Cory! But I got Barren talking about making some BBQ!

600 cars in less than 2 years ? That's straight sick ! I wish I could pull those kind of numbers but too many chuckle heads around here willing to pay 600$ for a '85 ford fiesta so competition is tight to say the least.

there are only 3 guys here that do what I do counting me(that I see everyday anyway), I am in a unique situation and am very grateful, its posted here but the forum has grown so large you cant hardly find anything anymore so ill put it here again. I live in between two large cities (Jonesboro and Paragould ar) with several small cities all around these, I live in one of these brookland. 70000 plus people in Jonesboro, probably 45000 or so in Paragould just a guess and two major highways 141, 49, connect these two cities and 49 is businesses nonstop for over 20 miles.

this area I just described has been the opposite of the majority of the country for the last decade, while everyone else is downsizing we are growing, the rest of the country was laying off and we were hiring. we have a frito lay where I came from, post, nestle, nicpak, great dane, Thomas a betts, hytrol, two railroad car factorys, a glass factory, pepsi plant, Monroe, Riceland is the largest ricemill in the world, we even have a windmill factory here, and I am missing hundreds of small factories. one of the few places in the country where there are several good jobs, lots of scrappers to but I hardly ever see anyone in a dumpster and we have a few guys pushing shopping carts around but, its mainly people with industrial accounts, car guys come and go mainly because of tv I think

I have lost several cars from just not having the time to go get them, or from running out of money on the weekends

edit, ill add a little more geography to the above, we have a large rail network here, less than an hour from Memphis, 2 hours from little rock and less than 4 hours from st louis

That's badass Cory. I do the same thing out here in northern California and competition has gotten thick in the past few years. I got into this as a survival deal because Butte County is one of the poorest counties in California and it's pretty repressed. Not a lot of jobs but plenty of losers on drugs and welfare though. I've been doing this for 4 years and don't think I've hit 600 yet haha. Maybe 400. I've even done some half-ass research on your state in case I get tired of semi-struggling out here and decide to uproot everything and start over somewhere else.

Collin..thanks for the clarification, I know it ends somewhere west of me in NC. I'm as far east as you can get, 1 to 2 miles out from the mainland lies my sandbar.

So I hit water no matter what when I head home..LOL.

Sirscrapalot - Is gonna have to listen to Cory be all like "Dude you kept jacking my thread, I'm so not getting you one of those sandwiches now!" when he visits.

Yeah I know of where you live...I was stationed at Camp LeJeune and lived there and in Hubert, NC from 2003-2006. Maybe we'll move back to NC someday.
