**SIXTEEN HOUR MARK**
thats the fridge in the foreground. all the rotted wood made it easy to get a lot of the stuff out plus an axe and sledgy! have two buckets full of 12 gauge wire so far just from the inside I could get at and a nice bucket of bare brite insulated going too. Took 500 lbs of steel in so far, running another load so far. Its a 1976, 11,000 lbs GVW. I think I tore about 500 lbs of garbage weight off already lol.

How much are you getting for the steel? Around here it's up to .11 a pound!
hek, you might can still use that frame for a hauler. Is the motor still any good? Even if it isn't you could maybe sell it for more than scrap, once you get the camper off of it, and the bed cleaned up. That's probly at least a one ton chassis
![]() |
Looks like dual wheels on the back, I'd say it's a 1 ton. Get it down to the cab and chassis you might rent/borrow a trailer and load it and take it in that way.
Took a small load of steel in here local and their paying $250. ton for light tin/steel.

funny part is you will probably fill up a 5 gal bucket with all of the screws / and other small items that you have removed so far!

How is the progress going? Are you done?
Title says it's a summer side job. Hope it doesn't take that long. She needs to cash out and onward to the next project!![]()

26 HOUR MARK
everything out except the dang potty, cant get it out for the life of me. came in to take a dinner break and upload pics. I have 800 feet of electrical cord run back there now. everything is off of roof, getting ready to take out windshield and cut along frame to pull it all off. have to take the shop vac back because the windshield is just exploding into tiny shards, I cant get it out. I want to cut around it to pull the top off but I also dont want it to fall and bust either. thats why taking the shop vac back just in case and get all pieces of glass swept up off the ground. I figured 26 hours to get this far with just a drill, an ax and a sledge plus burn time = not bad for a girl!! thats me taking a bud break posing for the picture lol. the hornets nest and rain kept me from working on it since Monday when I hit the 24 hour mark and have the other 2 in at picture upload time and now going back out to see if I can pull all that other big part off now.

Is the window still strong enough to put a layer of duct tape on it, that could help with the mess. Nice work New.

If it's important to contain the glass, you can use spray adhesive on the inside and then stick heavy duty plastic to it. During a demo once I had to knock out several large plate glass windows. I used the spray adhesive/plastic trick on both sides, duct taped the 4 sides, then loosened the frames and pushed the windows right out onto the sidewalk. The glass shattered but all was contained in the plastic. We then rolled up the mess. I do remember that the rolls were heavier than heck and took several men to lift.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

thanks KZ!! I htought about duct taping it in an ''ex'' shape to help. so, window not out today, looked good on paper lol! got the hood off and the dash and working on getting the side panes off, gonna have a go at the window that way tomorrow. dark now, going home in a bit to rest my back.

Oh and the generator is finally out - that sucker is H.E.A.V.Y.!!!!!!

The toilet is probably bolted from underneath. If you're not saving it then wrap it with a chain and yank it with your truck.

I figured it probably was Idaho! It's finally dried out enough back there now I can try that. Watch, as many times we tried to rock that thing outta there yanking the potty out will probably pull the camper out too!!
So my plan tomorrow is get that window out and pull all remaining top framework and body metal off and it will be down to the bottom frame, motor, etc. I've got the electric to it but will probably have to get the torches down there to cut some of that body and frame up.
I don't know that i'll ever willingly do another vehicle again, at least not a camper what with as much garbage as it had to get rid of and burn but I'm saving the keys to the camper as a souvenir!!! LOL!!
Thanks everyone for following along with me as I go!!
that is one tough project

Once you get it totally gutted you might be able to pull the empty chassis out and up on a trailer for the yard, save a lot of cutting. The chassis shouldn't weigh a third of what the loaded weight was.I've got the electric to it but will probably have to get the torches down there to cut some of that body and frame up.

You totally rocked it. Amazing. I'm super impressed. High fives all around. ****. Good job!!
