i am talking wood.
So today i got a 99 300m with 4 flat tires and the rear driver side tire was wrecked and bent in and wouldn't turn.Had to break the ignition so i could get the wheel to turn since there was not a key.Get all of that done and put the wife in there steering start winch get it almost all the way on the trailer and here a boom a bolt had come out of the front of the winch and it twisted and **** near broke the winch in half almost. So needless to say now i need a new winch.
Luckily they had a back hoe and helped me finish loading the car up.
How much are you buyin cars for at the auction? If you dont mind me askin. Iv thought about it but with the price of shed here (140/ton) it just doesnt seem worth it. After taxes and buyers premiums. Iv checked the run lists of previous auctions and the cheapest ones i could find where like 400 bucks.
Forget about buying cars up here at auction for scrap, better off concentrating on the gp (general public) they are far superior customers in my opinion.
At 140$ it really sucks, just remember, let the customers be aware that scrap is low and lower your buying price accordingly. Others have already.
Sitting on a few till the price goes up myself. 155$ here.
As you can see in my photo
I use 2X4's and 2X6's
I place the front to back 2X6's inside the up & down supports
so when there is a load it is pushing against the 2X6's holding them tighter against the supports verses trying to push them off the supports and rip the nails/screws out if they were on the outside
yeah i built some cheap quick ones with a some 2x2's and some pressed board for a temporary setup for my load yesterday. Also yeah i plan on getting the 12k winch from harbor freight also.Dont really used it much but if i get 4-5 cars lined up from people then i will go ahead and get it.They load them for me at the auction so i can kind of hold off if i need to for alittle while.

Yeah i can pay higher since i get 245 per ton.I hope you the best man and that your prices go up
i think i am going with the badlands one sooner or later.
I missed out on 2 3/4 ton army trucks the other day.One was missing missing motor still have trans and was missing rear end.The other one in the same lot was missing front and rear axle and bed.Had both enigine and trans they sold for $160 for both of them.
**** i need to get my new winch so i can jump on these killer deals that happen sometimes.
They where on gov liquidations have any of you bought anything off of there before?
thats good more for me.I made alot of money off of these cars.
How do you sell your parts? CL or do you run a parts business? Id pay more if i coukd sell parts. Have had my cars up online since july. Have sold headlights for 25 and a plastic bumper for 30 bucks off a grand prix. Squat other than that. Have been sitting on then a while cause prices tanked after i bought them.
my business is a used auto parts but i dont sell any parts really i dont have time.I have 3 days to get the cars out of the auction bring them home.Take off the cat, bat, alt, and wheels and haul them in.When i break down the wheels i separate the good from bad tires and sell the good tires to a tire shop for $5.00 each.
You just need to know what to pay for stuff and what stuff brings.Like i say i dont offer low money for a car to make $250 i pay more make alittle less but make alot over quanity. That is how you do it.
Out of what i said i do what do to you guys think i made off of these cars profit?
Well by what your sayin, id gueas maybe a hundred per vehicle. But like you said you do a lot of cars. I dont have the time or space to do that many cars, so i have to offer less to make it worth my while. Of i was doin 10-15 cars a week, yeah 100 per car would be 1000-1500 a week.
i made over 3k on them cars.It was over a 2 week span
only got 3 this week.About to go strip them down now.
Focker:
So you are saying you make 100-150 on average per car, just do more volume to get numbers.
Seems pretty decent. Good for you, man.
Sometimes wish I could quit my fulltime job and do this instead, but with slow times and low prices, glad I am not.
But there are also the times where I miss out some because I am working full time or can't keep up with cash flow.
Too many cars, no time to cash them in so I miss out there.
lol if the price is right.
Yeah i pay more make less but make money from volume. This week was slow got 3 cars hoping to make $225-$350 atleast i hope.Going to take some parts off of these and try to ebay them to see how that works out since i have time to do so for once.
Seems like tail lights, head lights, sun visors and their clips and any cheesy plastic crap that always breaks do well on Ebay and are easy to harvest. Plenty of other stuff depending on the model and how much time you have to spend.
Don't forget side mirrors, Climate controls and I also check the ECM's for past sales
Easy to pull, Easy to store , Easy to ship
yeah got radios and alot of other stuff going to try to sell on ebay if it works it works if it dont then it dont. But just trying and will be just extra money for me.
Yeah it usually is. Best thing bout selling them Vic's for demo cars is they don't care what you pull off of it as long as its a complete rolling chassis. I've sold several this way, after pulling Motor/trany, bat, cats, heater core, and gobs of car wiring. Usually can sell a "roller" for more than I paid for the whole car and have all the goodies I pulled to boot !
Tater is correct. I have tried in vein to pull a crown vic or towncar around here.. just for that reason.. You can buy a crown vic and gut the SOB get every nugget of goodies out of it and STILL sell the roller for $500 bucks in my area of the country. Some of these guys around here will spend $4-$6000 on the engine they put in a car that will be smashed to bits.. but the prize money and the "glory" are worth it to them *shrug*
i know it always changes but what is a good flat rate shipping price to charge people!
For shipping items on eBay?
Most of my items have FREE shipping >> Gets you the auto DSR 5 Star for shipping cost
I ship using Priority mail because I figure the Buyer wants the item ASAP to fix their vehicle
I use the Priority Regional rate A & B box's a lot
Followed by the Priority Medium and Large box's
EVERYTHING ships double boxed
ECM's most times ship in FRE (Flat Rate Envelope)
I know which box I plan to use for shipping before I list the item and add the cost to ship to zone 8 into the minimum amount I want for the item plus eBay & PayPal fees = Start price
When someone close makes the purchase that is additional profit in my pocket
I also sell Internationally >> Item is listed with FREE USA shipping and Calculated International shipping
So the Domestic shipping built into the price is pure profit with International sale
Recent tail light sale went to Italy

USPS supplies the Priority box's for FREE
https://store.usps.com/store/browse/...S_PriorityMail
yeah so if you sell a item for $25 and it cost $!0-15 to ship it then you didnt make very much really.
Did you have the price a buy it now or did it get bid up to that high.
I also love you auction page i have been trying to figure out a way to make a nice listing like yours.
Think you could give me alittle help lol.
Find a couple sellers who pages you like
Copy and paste from theirs to yours
OF Course I am not recommending you copy (steal) there entire page
BUT
Take the best of everyone to make your own
Mine is very dated and needs some help, I just never seem to have the time
I would be happy to help you, send me a PM with what item of mine you were looking at and what parts you like and didn't like
Key to selling on eBay is good photos and lots of them
Very time consuming in the beginning but once you get some templates up and running it gets faster with each listing
Like for side mirrors, Tail Lights, Head lights, Climate controls and ECM's
I just overwrite the photos, Hollander number and Hollander information
everything else stays the same
yeah once you get the first few going and have your templates set. Then you just add the new photo and type the new description and everything else really stays the same.it is just them first few.
I like the one you linked on here how do you do the linking to other items and emailing you stuff.
Just like the Ebaying I do, one or two 5.00 sales are not much but at the end of the month then you have a few hundred.
so John any tips on a template
ok and thx no problem
5.0 explorers are becoming a popular swap into older trucks. engine, wiring harness, ecu and trans. 8.8 axle too. I see lots of posting on classicbronco about them. Why? explorer was last to use the 302 so it is a roller 302, maf, obd2. best flowing heads ford has made for the small block. distrubitorless ignition, more efficient.
