Has anyone every dismantled and scrapped a fire truck. I have opportunity to buy several and am just wondering if they are worth it. Seems to be quite a bit of brass. BTW these are 1980's 1990's models not the old small fire trucks.

I myself may be junking a fire truck conversion...came across this. So the pumps etc are worth quite a bit?

Really depends on the age and manufacture of the pump, an older pump could just be scrap value.Originally Posted by M923

The majority of corporations work off a budget, equipment is depreciated over a number of years then regardless of condition is replaced. And this is how we end up with a surplus market, no one wants this sheet.

Copy that! It’s an army 6x6 that later was surplused to the Forest Service. I’m guessing pre 1999 as it’s an M939 series truck with no ABS, and with NDTs

Sounds to me like it was used to transport water to the suppression crews with the back pack squirts ( peeeze tanks ) putting out hot spots.

Never a fire truck but once did a septic tank truck a few members here may remember that truck. I had fabricated a tow bar to haul it over to Jacks behind the crane truck, cut the top half off of the tank then filled it up with scrap.
