    LCD/LED Panels

    Hey, everybody.

Is there really no market, scrap or otherwise, for laptop/desktop/TV screens removed from the housing and bezel? Even if they work? It just seems weird, though I don't know anything about testing them. I had heard that the construction had varied so much over the years that buying new was the safest bet.

I started getting in bare screens from a computer repair shop and they had been pulling them out for parts replacements and that's why I'm asking. I hadn't gotten more than a couple in the last year but now I have a dozen or so and I really am not sure what to do with them.

There are a couple other posts with this topic but they are all pretty old and seem to be loaded with irrelevant commentary. I was looking to see if anything had changed.

Is there anything left on them that they could go in with the shred?

I don't think so. It's the panel assembly, with just the wire dangling. But it's moot, since VT yards can't accept computer scrap.

You know its funny I saw this. I have a buyer near me that buys just the LCD screen for a buck or 2 but it has to be larger than 17 inches and can not be cracked in the slightest bit. I believe it needs to be in at lease the metal frame housing with the light tubes still in there. I will check with him again to see if he is still buying, it's been a month or so since I last sold to him. We always do the shopping game from buyer to buyer and this guy will even buy full complete Core 2 duo's at like 6 bucks each, but they have to be complete. I have told him about the forum and I could not see any real interest in him, there is a slight language barrier so I try my best to understand.

I have several Gaylord's full of broken LCD/LED computer monitors... Ranging from 15" up to 32". No boards have been removed. Most are cracked, several are working, but have major gouges or broken plastics. 10+ Gaylord's full... average of 100+ pieces per Gaylord. Some of the Gaylord's also have some broken laptop LCDs as well.

I also have dozens of pallets of TV's that also haven't been harvested yet.

I have been getting on average .08 to .14/lb out of the mix. Less for ones that have been harvested.

I would like to find someone that could take 10-20 Gaylord's a month. They make fantastic shread provided you remove the mercury bulbs first.

    Anyone interested?
