Chunks of aluminum and the copper is always a plus. If you have a yard that buys the junk circuit boards, that helps out a bit more than it used to. True that you still have to get rid of a lot of the stuff and some of the wires that connected different components to each other aren't always copper. I actually tore one down a few months ago and the wires were surprisingly steel. Stuck to a magnet and bummed me out. Easy to strip, just ended up not being worth it for that specific wire.

Another thing is if they work sell them to a pawnshop. I found a tv someone was giving away and on my way there I stopped at the pawnshop and sold the one I already had in th car. The guy was like i can only give you $20 for it. Sold. $20 for a free tv aint half bad.

I always pick up TV's and CRT's. With the amount of scrappers popping up everywhere, every little bit helps.

    This unfortunately.

The best thing that you can do is to tear one apart, weigh up the components and figure what the reward is versus your time. then you still have that big old carcass to get rid of.

The carcass goes in the trash/recycle bin for Monday/Thursday pick up, or if the trash is full, it comes with me to a dumpster in my apartment complex.
